Amaron vs Exide: Which Car Battery Should You Actually Pick?

June 15, 2026 · 5 min read

Walk into any battery shop in Hyderabad and you will hear the same question a dozen times a day: "Amaron or Exide?" Both are solid brands. Both have been around for decades. Both come with decent warranties. So how do you actually choose?

We have been selling both brands for over 5 years and we have seen thousands of batteries come and go. Here is an honest breakdown based on what we have actually seen, not what the marketing brochures say.

Price

Exide is generally slightly cheaper across most models. For a standard sedan like the Hyundai Creta or Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Exide option will typically cost around Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 less than the equivalent Amaron battery. That said, Amaron batteries tend to last a bit longer in our experience, so the cost per year of use is roughly similar.

Warranty

Both brands offer a split warranty structure: a certain number of months of full free replacement, followed by pro-rata warranty for the remaining period. Amaron typically offers a slightly longer free replacement window on their premium models. For example, an Amaron battery might give you 36 months free replacement plus 30 months pro-rata, while the comparable Exide gives 30 plus 30. Always check the specific model because this varies.

Performance in Hyderabad Heat

This is the big one. Hyderabad summers push engine bay temperatures well above what northern or coastal cities experience. In our experience, Amaron batteries handle extreme heat slightly better because of their VRLA technology and calcium metal alloy design. That does not mean Exide is bad. The Exide Epiq and Matrix Red series handle heat well too. But if your car sits in open sun parking for hours every day, Amaron has a slight edge here.

Availability of Models

Exide has a wider product range in India. If you drive a less common vehicle or an older model, chances are Exide will have a compatible battery in stock when Amaron might not. This is purely a product lineup advantage. At our store we carry the full range of both brands, so we can usually find the right fit regardless.

So Which One Should You Pick?

If budget is your top priority and you want a reliable battery without spending extra, go with Exide. If you want slightly better heat tolerance and a longer free replacement warranty, go with Amaron. Both are genuine, both carry full manufacturer warranty, and both will serve you well for 3 to 5 years with normal use.

The best advice we can give is: do not overthink it. Pick the one that fits your budget, make sure you are buying from an authorized dealer (that is us), and get it installed properly. A well-installed battery from either brand will outlast a poorly installed premium battery any day.
